Did you know that 1.5 Americans and at least 5 million worldwide have a form of Lupus. Most people that do develop Lupus are females between the ages of 15-44. Lupus is a chronic autoimmune disease that can damage any part of the body (skin, joints, and/or organs).
In lupus, something goes wrong with the immune system, which is the part of the body that fights off viruses, bacteria, and germs. A person without Lupus fights off these bugs with proteins called “antibodies” which protect the body from these invaders.
A Lupus patient’s immune system can’t tell the difference between the bugs and the body’s healthy tissues. As a result, it creates autoantibodies that attack and destroy healthy tissue.
This results in a patient feeling symptoms such as extreme fatigue, headaches, painful/swollen joints, anemia, swelling, rash, sensitivity to light and many others. I am a Lupus fighter. I am a Lupus warrior. I WILL NOT let it beat me! Support this chronic disease by learning and donating at lupus.org
